Carved Art Nouveau Coffee Table in Black Walnut Concord, Massachusetts

Many times, people will contact me after viewing my website and request a variant of a specific piece of furniture that I had made for an earlier client. The Art Nouveau Coffee Table In Bent Laminated Ash has drawn people who seek a singular piece for the center of their living space. They also like the fact that while my glass top tables do not seem to occupy space, they provide the opportunity for a sculptural experience of wood.

These clients came with just such an interest. While the two tables are similar, the carving in this later table is much more developed. I have become interested in the undersides of my work, and I personally enjoy the tactile experience of the carving. With a glass top, this carving can be seen beneath the surface, and it draws your hands as well as eyes to the smooth curves and turning forms.
